the first official release from The Ashen Ledger is now here on the internet. i’ll be releasing some new books myself soon, along with a series of books by various people on the topic of natural history, and hopefully some music but i got sick of waiting for my laziness and lethargy to subside so i decided to publish some great drawings by Ian Hart.

Ian works at the american museum of natural history here in new york fabricating all the awesome dioramas, environmental elements, and basically anything you see in the special exhibitions. he then spends pretty much the rest of his time at home cooking and making these painstakingly accurate, wonderfully subtle, layered anatomical drawings.

the working sketches in this book, Lithogenes maenjana, are of various cutaway views of a recently discovered, yet to be described fish species, i believe from some lake in peru. such are the benefits to working at the AMNH.

the book is 5.5″x4.25″, 8 pages, photocopied, and unfolds into an 11″x17″ poster. edition of 75.

these books were produced as part of the last Grotto Gallerie show, darque darque, and i still have some left so if you are interested drop me a line and we’ll get you one.
